What Does CNC Mean?
At GB Foam, we have several CNC (computer numerical control) cutting machines within our factory. These state of the art cutting machines allow us to create foam cut to size to extremely precise specifications. Using computer programming techniques, we are able to input specific data which prompts our equipment to replicate foam cut to size of endless varieties. Our CNC cutting equipment can read CAD (computer-aided design) files and creates physical foam cut to size products as a result. The use of CAD files makes it much easier for our customers to specify their exact requirements, right down to highly specific measurements.
Foam cut to size guided by CNC technology will exhibit a much cleaner and overall more professional looking final product. The same foam cut by hand, would not exhibit the same standard of finish, even when performed by the most experienced of craftsmen. Depending on the type of foam, this powerful foam cutting equipment is able to cut through up to 8lb density foam. This means that we are able to produce a variety of foam cut to size products, using numerous foam types and foam grades.
What is CNC Routing?
As mentioned beforehand, as with all CNC cutting equipment, our CNC routers are primarily controlled digitally through computers. At GB Foam, we use CNC routing to create complex foam cut to size designs, which are specified within unique CAD files. This allows us to create an extraordinarily professional finished product, which would not be possible to replicate by hand. Our CNC Routers allow us to minimalize product wastage, vastly increase efficiency and improve the overall quality of final foam products.
At GB Foam, we have the capability to design CAD (Computer Aided Design) files for clients, or otherwise use existing CAD files which clients send us. Once an order has been confirmed, we can integrate the CAD file into another piece of computing software. This allows us to create a CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) file, containing manufacturing instructions that our CNC Router can follow.
Examples of CNC Routing Use In Foam Products
CNC routing is ideal for more complex designs which requires foam cut to size in vast quantities. As CNC cutting technology is predominantly infallible, we are enabled to replicate the exact same standard of foam shapes multiple times over. This is especially beneficial for products such as foam case inserts, production line assembly foam trays or other foam cut to size products which require intrinsic cutting specifications.
