Plastazote is a high-performance closed cell foam popular with many of our customers. Manufactured by Zotefoam, this incredible foam is lightweight yet durable. It is known as a thermoplastic polyethylene foam which contains nitrogen filled cells for extra durability. Plastazote is a member of the Azote® range which also includes Evazote and Supazote.
Features of Plastazote LD33 Closed Cell Foam
Plastazote LD33 closed cell foam is suitable for a wide variety of applications. Customers from a multitude of industries have benefited from the foam we have supplied to them. From those seeking packaging solutions to those looking to build movie sets and props; Plastazote LD33 has been the ideal foam.
This closed cell foam is flexible and highly durable. It can also be easily cut to shape and size as well as heat moulded (85 – 140 °C). The unique features of Plastazote foam open a world of possibilities for our clients. It offers many benefits, thus serving many uses.
As well as the aforementioned properties of Plastazote, it is also extremely water resistant. As water is unable to pass through the cells of this foam, it is very buoyant. This makes it ideal for use in or around water. Plastazote is often used in some marine applications due to its buoyancy and water-resistant properties.
Furthermore, Plastazote also has a high-impact threshold. As such it is often used as padding within protective sportswear for contact sports.

The Many Uses of LD33 Plastazote

Our clients come from a wide spectrum of industries. From aviation to construction, plenty have experienced the benefits that Plastazote brings. Plastazote has uses in healthcare applications as well as marine, military, sportswear, automotive, retail, museum, aerospace and many more. It is often used as a packaging foam for the likes of military hardware, power tools, medical equipment, antiques, general electronics and much more. In fact, as a professional foam converter of more than 40 years, we are fully equipped to create foam housing for practically any item in need of protection.
How Plastazote is Made
Plastazote LD33 is initially created in the same manner as any foam, wherein crude oil is fractionally distilled to create a substance known as Naphtha. The Naphtha is then further processed to create polyethylene foam.
As mentioned previously, Plastazote is an extremely durable closed cell foam. It is unique due to the way in which nitrogen is blown into its cells during the formation process. This method is what helps to give it superior durability. Because air does not pass through the cells of Plastazote freely, it can quickly spring back to its original shape after pressure is applied.
